KAMS selects students for their second class
KAMS ClassroomKAMS has selected 23 Kansas students and one Iowa student for their in-coming class of high school juniors (college freshman).  This in-coming class includes students from many Kansas’ rural communities including: WaKeeney, Kinsley, Leoti, Parsons, Silver Lake and Scott City, as well as students from the larger cities and suburbs of Wichita and Kansas City. This in-coming KAMS class will join the returning KAMS students this fall in Custer Hall.

The Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS), established by legislative action in 2006 by SB139, is the state’s premier academic high school program for the state’s best and brightest high school students. Funding for the Academy is provided in part from the Kansas Base per Pupil State Aid that the sending high schools receive from the Kansas Department of Education and additional state appropriations from the legislature. This funding covers tuition, fees and textbooks. It is the KAMS students’ responsibility to pay for all housing, meals and incidental expenses.
KAMS is a unique residential learning experience.

While attending KAMS, students take on a rigorous academic curriculum that includes Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II, Chemistry I & II, Principles of Biology, and Physics for Scientists and Engineers I & II as well as taking on a major research project during their 2nd year of KAMS.
