FHSU Women’s Basketball Ranks Second Nationally in Attendance
The attendance leaders for the 2009-10 women’s basketball season were released by the NCAA. Fort Hays State ranked second nationally in attendance for Division II, averaging 2,214 fans at each home game. The Tigers were one of four schools from the MIAA in the top 10. All four of the schools in the top 10 make up the representation from Kansas in the MIAA.
Fort Hays State ranked second behind Northern State (S.D.). Northern State averaged 2,897 fans per game, while Fort Hays State averaged 2,214 per game. Northern State’s men also led the nation in attendance for Division II, while the FHSU men were fifth on the list.
The 2010 NCAA Division II National Champions, Emporia State, ranked third on the list with 2,118 fans per game. St. Cloud State was the only team keeping the MIAA from sweeping the second through fifth spots on the list in the fourth spot. Washburn was fifth on the list with 2,031 fans per game and Pittsburg State was sixth on the list with 1,926 fans per game.
